My Interview with Turkeybag!

So I sent over a few questions to Turkeybag, and he responded with some really good, and insightful answers which gives us a good feel as to how the game is gonna be!

- First of all: What inspired you to make a game like this?
Well it would probably be both supernatural (TV series), and dead rising. I wanted to make a zombie game kinda like dead rising for ages but supernatural pretty much gave me most the ideas for game play that make this game stand out (such as salting your doors to keep demons out, using iron weapons to kill demons, weapons like the colt going into the storyline (maybe) and other things like that.)

- How long has it been in development for?
Can't remember lol. Think it's probably been about 9 months or so (since the beginning of the year) but I take brakes from making it (longest has been like a month) and I have lots of other things to do (School, real life issues, play games ) so the actual time spent working on it probably isn't high.

- Will there be a story mode? Or will this just be a sort of sandbox game?
It will be very very close to dead rising. There is a main story you can do if you want, you can do other side story-lines (these will be different and longer than dead risings though) that you find and there will be bosses all over the place to kill. Another thing I think people will enjoy doing is just trying to survive as long as they can. This is very hard as the longer you live, the stronger the mobs get and more types of mobs will keep showing up. I increase the stats manually also giving the mobs more abilities and evolving their look so it isn't like most games I've played where there's just more mobs and/or the stats are increased by a percentage every now and then. There are also 'boss mobs' as I call them that spawn every half hour or so to hunt you down. They are probably the main problem when trying to survive. It's all in one mode though.

- How many types of zombies do you plan for there to be in the end product?
Not quite sure. Well mobs all up there will probably be over 150! Alot of these will be the mobs evolving as that's pretty much a different mob (normal melee zombies start dodging and lunging and stuff like that)if you don't count that then there will still be quite a few. Maybe 30-60 counting bosses. Not 100 percent sure as I don't really have a plan set out for mobs yet. I just add what sounds fun

- Do you think you will keep updating (in a minecraft sort of fashion, the way Notch is continually updating and says he will continue to after the full release) after the game has been released?
Well the game is gonna be released in parts so people can play it sooner. After I have finished all the parts (the game will be huge then) I will probably stop updating it as I should have enough money to get a pc that can use UDK. Then instead of updating it I'll make a sequel to it with 50x better graphics and overall better everything! Also probably with online play!

- Do you have any goals for when you want the game to be completed by?
Nope. It will be done when it's done. First major game I've started making so not sure how long it's gonna take but I'll try get it done as fast as I can.

- Do you want it to be released on Steam or Origin etc? Or will this be a buy from you type deal or will it be free?
The first part of the game will definitely be free. If I'm not getting enough donations the other parts will cost a small amount. One of the major reason for me making this is to get money to buy a computer that can use UDK. If I'm not getting enough money through donations to do that I will have to charge people :S
It will most likely be on steam.

- And finally, what will we be able to expect from the game when it's completed?
A main storyline, many side story-lines, some of the characters being alot less serious about things than most games (they joke alot!), a variety of mobs, bosses, and boss mobs to battle, the ability to make your own weapons out of stuff you find. You can put up to all the weapons you can hold into one weapon (you can pretty much make anything you can think of), a level system of some sort. It wont be very important to stuff (the whole game can be done at level 1 and it's not to much harder). Just gives new abilities and more things to enjoy. The last thing I can think of at the moment is weapons of mass destruction! Boss mobs will open hidden doors and passageways in places (places you haven't been will be opened first) letting you into rooms previously inaccessible that will contain some form of epic weapon. Everything from air strikes, to nukes, to giant laser breathing ponies that you can ride for a short time! (well maybe not the last one but you get the picture). This method encourages exploring!

Thanks a lot for that Turkeybag!
I will be putting up some screenshots of the game after I get it soon, probably in the weekend, so look out for them!

Some interviews!

Well, it's (once again) been forever since my last post, but I promise I will start posting more often now! Okay fine, don't believe me. Look at my sadface -> :(

Anyway, i've started lining up some interviews with some small time game developers! This means you guys will be able to start finding out about some of the new games that will be coming up soon! These games may or may not become well known, and may or may not be on popular gaming things such as Steam and Games for Windows Marketplace etc.

My first interview that I will be doing is one with someone known as 'Turkeybag'. His upcoming game which is still in pretty early stages is a 3D Zombie Survival game. From what I know (which isn't too much at this stage), you will be able to pick things up, and then replace them elsewhere, you have a limited inventory to carry around weapons, furniture etc, and you will need to beat many, many zombies with your hands.
There is also a game mode where you have 360 degree vision, which I have seen the video for and it's crazy!

So keep an eye out for the interview when it comes out. I'll post some screenshots oif Turkeybag lets me get some hands-on playtime with the game.

League of Legends: I'm addicted!

Hello all!

Here is the first of many posts about LoL (league of legends if you didn't already figure that out). Anyway, this game is made by some of the same people who made DotA (Defence of the Ancients) which was originally made on Warcraft 3. The Warcraft 3 engine had limited what was available, hero-wise, and so after a while League of Legends was created by Riot Games. Riot Games got all of DotA's original creators to create LoL.

Anyways, I started playing this a while ago, and I absolutely love it! The graphics suite the gameplay, which is amazing. This game has so much re-playable value, and the fact that there aren't any other games out there that are like this (Apart from DotA and Heroes Of Newerth) make this game really unique, and fun. I urge you all to check out their website and have a go at it. Oh, and best of all, it's absolutely free!

Dayumn, it's been a while!

Hello all, I'm back! It's been, just over 3 months since I had to abruptly stop this blog. I had to move, and was without internet for about 2 months, and with the recent things that have come up, such as homework, having to study and epic gaming nights, it's been hard to find time to blog, but i'm back!
I have re-thought what this blog is going to be about.
-Music that I, and others find appealing (Now with extra Hardstyle and Dubstep)
-Minecraft (still)
-League of Legends (my new addiction)
-iPod Touch/iPhone apps (just coz I can)
-Other games, probably not for a while though
-Anything else I find interesting.

My blogging will resume properly next week, when the holidays are over and everything is back to normal.
Until then, just keep rollin, rollin, rollin
wow that was a really lame goodbye. so, goodbye!

Minecraft update, new blogger!

Hey guys,

So, I've been playing Minecraft, and the update is awesome!
This update (from what I have experienced) has added a new mineable block, a new tree, dye (to dye wool awesome colors!), a dispenser, and a thing called a notebox (I think). Oh, theres also squids in the water now! And they drop ink sacks when you kill them, which gives you the ability to make black wool.

Okay, the new mineable block is pretty darn rare. I've been digging in my mine, and haven't found one! It's called the Lapis Lazuli and it's royal blue. This is used to make blue dye, or if you have enough a whole Lapis Lazuli block.

The dispenser, when hooked up to a redstone switch or pulzar can drop things out. This can also be used as a defence mechanism if you have enough arrows! Alternatively, you can hook it up to a button, which can just drop the things when the button is pressed.

The notebox, is made like a jukebox, except with redstone in the middle. When placed on a certain block, it will produce a different sound, for example; Cobblestone has a sort of low sound, whereas placed on wood it produces a sound which is higher than that of the Cobblestone.

The new tree's are Birch trees (I believe) and they have the same function as normal trees, they just look different. Instead of having brown bark, they have white and black bark. I don't really like the looks of them, but that's just my opinion.

So, thats it for now, and a special announcement!

A good friend of mine will be writing on this blog aswell as me. He's mainly going to be writing about the competitive gaming scene, mainly Team Fortress 2, Battlefield 2 and Counter-Strike: Source.
So give him some feedback for his first post and make him feel welcome!

Justice

Hello again!

Seeing as alot of people love Daft Punk, I thought I would share with you all a band just like Daft Punk. They produce the same kinda music as Daft Punk, theres 2 members in it, they are French, and they are also, absolutely awesome!

Their name is Justice. They hit the music scene around 2007, and their fan-base has been growing.

They currently have 3 albums out now and I reccomend all of them! D.A.N.C.E would have to be my personal favorite song by Justice, and it's won a few awards for it's video aswell!

They are rumored to be in the making of having a new album being produced at the moment, no confirmation as of yet, but fingers crossed for a new album!

So of you like/love/worship Daft Punk you're gonna love Justice!

Daft Punk

Another few days, another post.

Now, Daft Punk. If you haven't heard of them, you must be living under a rock. The French duo produce Electro/house and boy are they good at it!

The duo started amassing a huge fan-base in 1990, and their fan-base had been constantly growing.

In 2007, Daft Punk released their second live album, titled " Alive 2007 " This is a personal favorite of mine, and  after the recording of it, it had been their last live performance, until recently. In 2009 the duo won a grammy for the hit single "Harder Better Faster Stronger" on the Alive 2007 album.

I've had the Alive 2007 album for 2 years now, and I still find myself listening to it everyday! My personal favorite song on it is "One More Time/Aerodynamic" The beats really compliment the lyrics and it's a song that is in my top 5 on iTunes.

So if you like Electro/House I reccomend Daft Punk (If you don't already have their albums!)
